19M Students..Egypt Celebrates Record Participation in Arab Reading Challenge

Egypt has proudly marked a milestone achievement in the Arab Reading Challenge — the world’s largest reading competition — with a record-breaking participation of over 19 million students from across the country.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, celebrated this achievement in a post on X (formerly Twitter), commending Egypt’s dedication to education and culture. The students represent both the Ministry of Education and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, reflecting a united national commitment to fostering reading among youth.

The Arab Reading Challenge, launched under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has become a flagship cultural movement in the Arab world. It encourages students to read and summarize at least 50 books during the academic year, aiming to instill a lifelong love of reading and critical thinking.

Egypt’s record participation this year not only underscores its longstanding literary and cultural heritage but also highlights the country’s renewed investment in educational development and youth empowerment.

As the final ceremony approaches in October in Dubai, anticipation builds for the crowning of this year’s champions — young readers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, comprehension, and passion for books.
