👀Cairo Got An Early Morning Scare as Telecom Tower Caught Fire in Tagamoa

• A fire broke out this morning (Sunday) in a mobile tower owned by a major telecommunications company in New Cairo’s First Settlement (Tagamoa El Awwal), sending plumes of smoke into the sky and raising alarms due to the proximity of key buildings—most notably the National Cancer Institute.

• Videos shared on social media showed flames and thick black smoke rising from the top of the tower, as nearby residents voiced concern over the fire spreading to surrounding buildings or critical infrastructure.

• According to Al-Masry Al-Youm, six Civil Defense fire trucks were dispatched to the scene, where emergency crews worked quickly to contain and extinguish the blaze.

• The New Cairo City Authority confirmed via Facebook that the fire was successfully brought under control. The statement noted that coordination took place between Civil Protection teams, security authorities, and the mobile company, all working to manage the situation safely and efficiently.

• Electricity was cut off in the immediate area as a precautionary measure, and technical teams reviewed the site's safety systems. While no injuries have been reported, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

• This morning’s incident has sparked renewed conversations about infrastructure safety and the importance of emergency preparedness, especially in areas close to health institutions and residential neighborhoods.
