Water Stations Set to Open Before Summer as Part of the “Decent Life” Initiative in Minya

The ‘حياة كريمة’ (Decent Life) initiative is making waves in Minya Governorate, bringing essential projects to 192 villages and 757 hamlets across 5 centers.

One of the main focus is the Al-Adwa center in the North, where water plant projects are racing against the summer heat to wrap up and provide better services.

Hassan Yahya, Chairman of the Minya Potable Water and Sanitation Company, emphasized that Al-Adwa Center is a hub of activity, with several water and sanitation projects in the works. The goal? To ensure everything is ready before summer arrives.

The Bani Warkan water plant has been upgraded as part of the ‘Decent Life’ initiative. This plant, now boasting a design capacity of 60 liters/second, covers 800 square meters. It’s set to serve the village of Bani Warkan and the Atf Haider village council.

Al-Adwa’s New Water Plant on the Horizon A brand-new water plant is springing up in Al-Adwa, spanning 25,000 square meters with a design capacity of 200 liters/second.

This plant will supply water to most of the villages in Al-Adwa Center, including Al-Adwa city itself. Yahya stressed the importance of speeding up the completion to kick off trial operations before summer.

The Safaniya water plant has undergone a major makeover, increasing its capacity from 27 to 90 liters/second. This upgrade, costing 53 million pounds, aims to serve villages like Safaniya, Al-Tubji, Taj Al-Din, and more.

The Sulaqus water project is also underway, with a focus on sticking to the timetable and finishing civil, mechanical, and electrical works.

Wrapping Up Network Extensions A meeting was held with contractors working on the water and sanitation network extensions for the ‘Decent Life’ initiative. These projects, implemented across 14 villages, are being handed over to Dar Al-Handasah after addressing any issues.

A survey will be conducted and signed off in the company’s GIS department before the handover, emphasizing the need for speedy completion to improve services and extend water and sanitation to all villages involved.
